Allen Lab Home

Welcome

Diversity Commitment

In the Allen lab we recognize that systemic racism has prevented underrepresented minorities (URMs) and historically excluded groups (HEGs) from entering and securing getting jobs in academia. We commit to use our privilege and power in our lab, department, and community to reduce systemic racism and make a more welcoming, open space for all.  We will make changes in policy and programs that are rooted in white supremacy that disenfranchise people of color. We are fervent supporters of BLM and believe that all Black lives deserve the same opportunities, justice, health, and peace of mind that only select groups have been privy to across the history of the United States.

Land Acknowledgment

Our lab is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus in Northern Nevada, built on land belonging to the Washoe tribe. As biodiversity scientists, we respect and recognize the Indigenous people who have honored and protected the land that supports our research.
